this is my third so you'd think i'd know what to do but this is a new situation for me. my son is 1 month now and when he eats he makes this high pitched gulping type sound and i know he's swallowing air. it's not making him terribly gassy or fussy but my other 2 didn't do this so i don't know if it's a latching issue or just something he does. i just feel bad when it does make him fussy. any thoughts?
that actually makes a lot of sense. there are times when he's eating and starts kind of spluttering and crying. it (not the noise but the fussing) seems to happen at times when he's trying to get to sleep. and i was thinking it was because he just wanted to suck but not actually eat. but if there's too much milk coming that makes sense. and it happens mostly on the one side that i'm pretty sure produces a bit more. it's the side that my other 2 developed a preference for as they got older. which would make sense too if the milk production is higher there. thank you! i will try leaning back next feeding.
My son did the same thing, and for the reason described above. Hopefully the other commenter's solution will work for you two. Congrats on the wee one, btw!
