My daughter is 5 weeks old now and I have been really avoiding caffeine. I allowed myself 1 coffee/tea a day when I was pregnant and now that I'm breast feeding I try not to have any at all.. but I'm really missing it. I really like to have a caffeinated drink in the morning... is it OK to have 1 a day? Are there any rotten side effects for the baby? I assume lots of people have had this problem, any advice or information you could offer would be appreciated.
It *might* make your baby cranky, but it may not... depends on your kid. If you really want it, I'd try tea that has some caffeine, but not a lot, and try it on a day when you don't have a lot going on so you have time to deal with a cranky kiddo. If that works, you're probably safe to have that much caffeine in the future. IF you want to have more, try it again with an empty schedule to deal with possible complications.Good luck :)
